Educational & Vitamin Supplies Distribution in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi

Overview

Donor Care successfully implemented a targeted distribution of essential educational materials and vitamin supplies to Badjau children in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi. This initiative addressed critical gaps in both learning access and child health, enabling young learners to participate more effectively in early education while strengthening their overall well-being. This intervention reflects our commitment to reaching the most underserved and marginalized communities with integrated and inclusive child-centered support.

Reach and Participants:

·       Total Children Supported: 130 Badjao children

·       Education Level: Kindergarten and Grade 1

·       Age Group: 4–9 years old

·       Community: Badjau learners and selected families/community in Bongao

Package of Support Delivered :

Educational Supplies:  Notebooks, pad paper, pencils, crayons, scissors, erasers, and school bags ensuring children are equipped with the basic tools required for Badjau children daily learning.

Health and Nutrition Support: Multivitamins and Vitamin C supplements, complemented by the provision of nutritious food during the activity, contributing to improved child health and readiness to learn.

 Implementation Highlights:

The activity was carried out in close coordination with the Local Government Unit (LGU) with Ms. Vema Gaticales, Badjau Learning Center, and community leaders, ensuring an inclusive, well-organized, and culturally sensitive and inclusive approach. In addition to the distribution, children and caregivers were oriented on the proper use of learning materials and vitamin supplementation, reinforcing both educational engagement and health awareness at the household level.

Immediate Results and Early Outcomes:

·       Improved access to essential learning materials among young children

·       Increased enthusiasm and participation in early learning activities

·       Strengthened awareness of child health, nutrition, and care practices among families

Looking Ahead:

Expanding and scaling Impact Together - Building on the success of this initiative, Donor Care is preparing to extend similar integrated support to other Indigenous Peoples (IP) communities, including:

·       Aeta children including children with disabilities in Zambales 

·       Mangyan children including children with disabilities in Mindoro 

These communities face similarly significant barriers to education and health services. With your continued partnership and support, we aim to replicate and scale this model delivering holistic and inclusive support that nurtures both learning and well-being for children who need it most.
